Not surprised. Multiple cards, lost cards, extra cards, cards for people with disabilities.
Remember the cards are for the handicapped not the elderly.

I spent one winter in South Dakota and was on crutches due to a fractured ankle. One evening I was on my way into a restaurant, negotiating my way across the parking lot in a blizzard with -20 temps. As I approached the restaurant door, a small car pulled into the handicapped spot near the door (I didn't have a placard, so I didn't use it) and four college aged twits jumped out and started racing for the door.
I stopped in my tracks and stared. The driver saw my crutches, turned around and called his friends to follow him to the car, and drove off. |

In Texas you get one per car. I have 2 cars - they gave me two.

In PA you get one per person. My folks have them -- deservedly.
Most of the people I see in the handicap spots at Sam's Club are not elderly. Same with the ladies who park in them at one of my office locations. They have placards, but they hop right out of the car (a bit smugly to my eye) and stroll on into the office. Not my business and all that but I think they have a soft hearted doc somewhere. |

Even now, almost five years later I lose my shit when ever I see a person without a pass parking in to one. It's always a big fucking fu towards people who absolutely needs them. Happy new year Shakira. Let's keep arguing for more years to come!

Sounds like a rich career. My stepfather was based at Danang. Flying is dangerous business. He told me a story about a Navy driver who came into his hospital still in his seat and burning (i.e. Willie Pete)

I am a veteran and I am disabled, but I am not a disabled veteran. My disability was not a cause of my military service. In addition, I couldn't have a personalized plate that way.

MENTALLY handicapped doesn't count
Mom has a placard. I once limped into a Dodgers game but when we left there were still plenty of open blues I hate seeing my dad pop the placard on then scurry into the grocery store

My BIL had both done at once. Pretty rare event. At the time there was only one place in the area that would even do it. Not sure if it's changed since then, about 5 years ago. I have one prosthetic hip at the moment and I tell everyone who will listen: find a doc who uses the anterior approach. Night/day difference in recovery and resulting function/lifestyle, compared to the more traditional posterior approach. |
