I view on ramps as my way to see how fast i can get my car from a slow roll and watch everyone amazed that i passed the ass hats who didnt let me merge

But it still can decelerate faster than it can accelerate. I don't know too many cars that can pull more than 1g accelerating, but I know of many that can decelerating. Think about it, the 335i can go from 60-0mph in 114'; but what distance does it take to go from 0-60mph? Certainly more than 114'.

They're called "metering lights", and are designed to control the amount of cars trying to get on the freeway at one time. Studies show that they work relatively well.

What's worse is people that don't pull to the side when making a right turn....or people that cut you off very slowly at a slow speed as you approach at a very high speed and don't realize what they did because they look shocked when you honk and proceed to return the favor

People don't understand onramps apparently.

-They don't accelarate to get up to freeway speeds.
-The idiots the feel the have to follow the merging lines instead of moving over immediatley when you are allowing them to get in front of you. This one pisses me off more than anything.

That bugs me, too. And then, of course, they don't thank you for letting them in.

I kind of think it is funny when you are giving them 2 car lengths to get in and they still proceed to drive on the shoulder of the highway because they don't know the dimensions of their car

That's what I'm sayin. At least 2 cars lengths.

It happened to me yesterday on the way to my parents. I kept running up on their ass once I saw they were doing this hoping they'd get a clue.

A good number of times I'll just fly past them since they can't comprehend how to drive woth a shit and merge.

I hate this $hit they pull...

merging ramps are long and it's there for a reason, to give you room to speed up and merge with minimal disruption to the flow of traffic...sadly it's not working for those who don't know how to use it.

Do planes do a takeoff run, stop at the end of the runway and point at the sky and expect to shoot like a rocket from the ground? No.

When I drive on the ramps with a good distance or no one in front of me, It's like a runway and I speed up to the highway speed then merge. I don't wait til the end of the ramp because that's for emergency or to speed up more to get ahead of the asshole who won't let me merge.

Risk of getting sideswiped or rearended is much higher when you stop at the end of the ramp compared to speeding up to match the highway speed.

As a matter of fact, I was tired and driving home from work last friday, on the ramp merging to a parkway, I was looking at my driver's side view mirror to check for traffic before merging and by the time I looked ahead, i was like shit and see about 5-7 cars all stopped because the idiot at the front decided to stop and wait for a good space before merging. I had to make a spilit second desicison to turn quickly into the the parkway and then into the middle lane in case the idiot at the front of the ramp decides to turn into the parkway at the last second...

I think all the idiots that do that on a ramp thinks "oh i'm at the end of the ramp, it's time for me to merge, oh there's not enough room, let's wait...wait...ok maybe it's time...oh no lets wait just a lil bit more"

They had their chance at the start of the ramp where it meets the highway!

I completely agree. I love the folk who cant figure out how to merge and eventually get stuck at the end of the ramp and now have to find a space big enough to go from 0-50 in a POS 4 cyl....

Always pick your spot as you are coming down the ramp IMO.
