I've gotten no useful information from my local dealership. In my routine bi-weekly check, I see that my car no longer has any recalls. I imagine it will start moving through the pipeline again and perhaps I'll be able to take delivery in the SC performance center soon. I thought I'd post this update so folks in about the same position, or behind me, might see some hope of getting a car soon!

I don't view this as a new car anymore. I'm pretty concerned about the battery as well as having the car sit in Georgia outside for 2 months. Has anyone had any success squeezing some money out of BMW at this stage? It seems like they should need to do so.

Best of luck to those still waiting to get any information at all!
I wouldn’t worry at all about the battery. They’re more robust than you might imagine.

No idea about negotiating better financing terms etc when it comes to delivery, seems like others are getting some perks thrown in (bike racks and such).

I ordered my 2024 I7 at the end of April. It arrived at the west coast VDC on August 5th and sat there for two months. I finally got it two weeks ago, only to find—AFTER taking delivery, that someone had run the wipers and scratched the windshield. So, for the past week, the dealer has had it, replaced the windshield and I’ll get it back Monday.

I STRONGLY SUGGEST that others taking delivery of these delayed vehicles, CHECK around the wipers for accumulated sand, grit & other debris. These car sat outside in the elements and really got filthy.

As for $$$, My deal got significantly better, just with the BMW lease deals improving since April. In addition, I bought a used BMW motorcycle for $2450.00, which got me the $5K “Loyalty” discount. YMMV.

Wishing you a great deal and a great experience with yours.

I have had two minor defective windshields with two of my last three BMWs. The first one was replaced right after delivery. I tried something different with the second car, which I worked out with the dealer. I got an “IOU” for a windshield replacement at any time. Sure enough, I rock hit my windshield after two years and I had it replaced for no charge.

I just noticed a small chip in my windshield last week when I was cleaning it. I presume that's not covered under the warranty right? I think I'm just lucky that it is high up near the center, so it's difficult to notice from the inside (it's behind those black dots near the rearview mirror).

Yeah, I assume warranty covers a defective windshield. Not a rock chip. That's more of an insurance thing. The good news is that most insurance will pay for rock chip repair with no deductible. They would rather pay to have it filled than a new windshield if it cracks.

Final update from me. Car was delivered this morning, took it for a quick spin before work with a huge grin! Loving it so far.

There is light at the end of the tunnel for all those waiting to take delivery, hopefully you all see it soon.

Thanks. It all depends on if I get the Reg back tomorrow or not. If not, then another week. If I do, then tomorrow.

Well finally was able to take delivery of my 540 today, so far its awesome but there's so much to learn and play with. The car is smooth and quick and handles well but have to get use to the size before I start throwing it into the twisty mountain roads by me. Will be giving its first wash tomorrow (I'm a detailer so its not clean till I do it lol) will be dropping it off to get the front end ppf'd this weekend, then next week I will be doing a light paint correction and ceramic coating. I'll post some pics of the wash tomorrow! Thanks everyone for their updates in this thread it made that long wait a little bit more bearable.

If it's supposed to come with it they either need to fix it, or refund you money. I told them they need to go over mine bc if anything is not right I will reject the car and they will have to build me another.

They did promise to get it fixed so I am all good. Just wondering is there even mirror parts for 5 series that don't come with the blind spot monitor

How is that even possible? I thought that was part of the standard kit?

Received an update today. After sitting at the port of NY/NJ since the beginning of August my breaks are fixed. However there is still an open recall for the steering spindle. Im hoping in a couple of weeks it will be ready.

So I have finally moved to status 150 - production. Hurray!!

After my dealer loosing sight of my car in the order system he raised a ticket with BMW.

Apparently my car was paused for something called MYA - mid year adjustment. They delayed my car so it would be processed with some changes included.

Two codes are listed as the changed items on the build. He had no idea what they were but I suspect maybe a change of part to do with breaks and steering? 🤔🤷‍♂️

He said it could be anything from a car part to a software change. Anyone heard of this before?

Regardless, moving to 150 has been a real pick me up this week.

Signs of progress which is great.

Std equipment ZBS on the 550e so I would have thought the same on i5. It is so unusual that they could ship a car with that options missing.
