The American cemetery in Manila yesterday. The monument has ~35,000 MIA's listed from the Navy, Army and Army Air Corps. The grounds have the remains of ~17,000 service members who fought in WWII.

Interesting trivia: The eagle (see below) carved into the monument is a "War Eagle"-- i.e. his head points towards the arrows.

After the War, the eagle changed to the "Peace Eagle", where the eagle looks towards the olive branches.

Current military Colonel rank depicts "Peace Eagles" as well.

The specify gravity of a strawberry is about .92 and that strawberry pictured is about 2' x 2' x 2' totaling 8 cubic feet. So it's either photo shopped or that guy is really strong if he can lift a 500 pound strawberry.

We were there one year over 4th of July. On the 4th, we had a corner room overlooking the harbor and the the fireworks show. The next day, they moved us across the hall to a corner room looking down Waikiki Beach to Diamond Head. The two-balcony corner rooms are the best for sure.

The big one is Everest, to the right are Nuptse and Lhotse....all I can say is... it was pretty cold.
If you like this kind of stuff, you should check out Kristin Harlia... I would place a massive bet that she will hold the record for climbing all 14 of the 8000m mountains in less than 6 months. She just summited Everest and Lhotse within 8h! An absolutely amazing athlete.
