If cousins and Brock can get paid 18mill, brees should definitely be getting paid in the 20mill range.
The issue is the bad contracts they've given to mediocre guys. Theyve got 41.5mill in dead money this year and cant cover anyone Byrd is getting 11mill |

And Brees is the only reason they are in some of these games. without brees, they are a 1-15/2-14 team at best. |

And you're right, with their current roster and a scrub QB they'd be 2-14, but with a scrub QB and $15M extra in new/upgraded players I'd wager they'd be a lot better than they are.

Brady also converted his base salary to signing bonus so the cap hit could be spread out across the deal. It actually benefitted him because his base "salary" is so low now so the suspension took little money out of his pocket. He still got $28mill in signing bonus this year... The Broncos got lucky with Siemian and the Hawks with RW. They are outliers, not the norm. And the Broncos were paying Manning 20+ mill last year when they won the SB. Rodgers is making 22million, but the Packers are always in contention. RW is making 22mill now and they are still a favorite, Cam ~21... The list goes on and on. The good teams arent going out and spending tons of money on FAs. They are building through the draft. I cant think of one team that a FA made a huge impact the last few years outside of manning to the broncos. Hell, the Giants spent $100mill in FA on Defense and they just gave up 29 to the redskins. |

At 18mill/yr, he is in the bottom half of qb pay. Definitely a bargain for the production. People making more? Osweiler, Kaep, Cousins, Tannehill, Cutler... |

You can also put some blame on Drew here because he makes so much, they aren't able to sign free agents to help that awful defense. Then again they draft so many offensive players in the draft, how can you get better in other positions lol.

Brees could be playing for 1mill and the saints organization would still screw it up. Case in point is the 41+ mill in dead money from bad deals on guys that didnt perform and got cut. You dont build championship teams through FA, you build through the draft. Very rarely do you see a team add high dollar FAs and succeed. |

Same here...you actually root for players in your most hated teams... actually takes the fun out of hating.

LOVE what im seeing from our first round pick Ifedi!! definitely makes Seattle O line substantially better, and opens up the running lanes/providing RW with decent protection for once!
14-3 Hawks at this point
