I dated a guy where it partly didn't work out due to his lack of ambition. He was fine with his mediocre position in life because he didn't feel like he wanted to do any better, nor did he need to, because he didn't need more money. He was incredibly content to just say "well, this is where I landed," and do nothing to improve himself. It's not about the money (well... We all love the money), it's about the sense of achievement.
