My August production i5 E40 was put on hold due to steering spindle recall. Parts will be arriving next week based on my dealer and collection can be arranged after.

My is alr with the dealer and got a stop sale 4 days before collection date.

That’s so frustrating, I’m sorry. Hopefully they’ll be able to address quickly. Was it the IBS issue or the steering spindle issue?

Steering was a safety recall they couldn’t risk. They were proceeding with delivery for IBS with a signed form that we r aware of the possibility. Parts will be in and fixed next week.

PS. Just called the genius line and was informed that production has been pushed to week 45. They could not give me any reason as to why it was pushed. Carbon Black with Silverstone/Atlas Grey Merino.

I called the genius line yesterday since the status was still stuck at Order Received, and I was told the production has now been pushed to week 1 of 2025. Called my dealer and he said they weren't notified of the change by BMW. I ordered back in July with September production and looks like I might be waiting well into 2025.

I have had the production number since the time I placed the order, but do you guys think it might be possible dealer is giving away my slot to someone else or once the production number is assigned to a build week, dealer cannot manually adjust the production time frame? I appreciate your assistance.

Once you have the production number it would be very difficult for them to give away your allocation, as it’s tied to that number, based on my understand.

I would be more inclined to believe that these are internal rescheduling matters by BMW. It does make sense, though, as they literally have hundreds of thousands of vehicles across the world in various states of assembly, delivery and shipment that are all snagged up due to the recall crisis.

I’d be curious to know how many vehicles are taking up space in shipping ports across the world that are preventing vehicles at the factory from advancing forward.

It is not possible for dealers to adjust the production week tied to an allocation. What you are experiencing is just production scheduling changes.

I'm in a similar boat. We put down our deposit in mid-August, and ours is also stuck at Order Received. Fortunately, we aren't in a rush to get the car (though wife is getting impatient!).

EDIT: Genius line told me they will start build week 3 in January

My car just arrived at the dealer this morning. I have a video. Not sure if affected by either the brakes or steering Spindle recall yet. But I am sure I'll hear about it soon if it is. It will take about 3 weeks before I can take delivery.

Woot woot! Vehicle status changed. Now in status code 190 - Dispatched from factory. Vehicle sat in 182 - awaiting carrier assignment from 10/14 to 10/21.

End of Aug was my order went in, prod date was slated for 10/21. Just checked my status, currently at "Awaiting Carrier Assignment". Guess they started prod early. (550e on order)

Mine arrived in Sweden last thursday, got my plate nr and the dealer is waiting for it to be transported to them, he said I'll probably have it witihin a week. Ordered W37, went into production W38 and we are now in W43. I feel for you my american fellows, went throught the same with the iX3 2 years ago, took 6 months from order to delivery (all the way from China)

Word on the street is the hybrids go through the whole process quicker, regardless of your geographical location. Guessing its likely due to different queues that run parallell and probably less hybrids are ordered than EVs and ICEs. By the streets I mean the german forums.
