NSB was probably the first genre to take the instrumentation from DnB and crank the tempo down to 135-140. in fact if you take a "nu skool" breaks record that was cut at 33rpm and play it 45rpm it will sound like a DnB track that's just a tad too fast and too high pitched. although dubstep is primarily the child of UKG/2-step (see Tempa records/Horsepower productions etc) it has evolved to include more of a DnB influence and since the standard dubstep 140BPM is close to the standard for Breaks (135-140) i predict that you'll hear a resurgence in breakbeat dubstep over the next couple of years as punters begin to tire of chugging dubstep beats. here's a link to a forum for fans/dj's/producers of that sound if you want more: http://www.nuskoolbreaks.co.uk/forum/index.php Last edited by ellipsis212; 01-12-2011 at 11:51 AM.. |

Phaeleh (aka, Matt Preston) is another musician/ producwer I follow on FaceBook. In celebration of his 5,000th FB fan, he's giving away a few free tunes in high quality audio format. Some of these are new or remixes you do not find anywhere else. You may want to jump on it and grab these quickly :

just dl the 27 320kbps tracks from the mt. eden link above, nothing further required
While on the subject of linkin park, I had to post this remix (just mike shinoda cover of depeche song, but awesome nonetheless). Pretty rare so wanted to share. PM for mp3, pretty hard to find in HQ. (I own the album, of course ) Here's a link to the video (same song as below, better quality, not embeddable), definitely worth a watch Last edited by yakev724; 01-12-2011 at 05:26 PM.. |

hey guys, i've just finished my new dubstep DJ mix featuring 33 1/3 of my favorite tracks from the last 6 months. if you like this genre at all you will probably love this mix...it's nasty.
also, i've thrown in a healthy dose of grime and breaks too. Stream or D/L single track mix Update: full track downloads are now available (see below post) Last edited by ellipsis212; 01-19-2011 at 01:34 PM.. |

Link to zip folders containing all tracks, art, and meta
I've been spinning drum & bass, garage, 2-step, and dubstep for 10 years now and these mixes pretty much represent the 1000's of hours I've spent honing my skills behind the 1's & 2's. They're all mixed in key and I included tons of vocal tracks to keep it interesting. Revolutions 10:33 is 33 1/3 tracks of dubstep, grime, breaks, and jtek Revolutions 10:45 is 45 tracks of pure drum & bass and hip hop There's also a bonus mix of dubstep (d/l by clicking on the star) from last year that's pretty sparse and deep if you like that approach. Hope you guys like and let me know what you think! |
