Maybe. They’re certainly running out of other stuff to debut.

I was just speaking with a CA and he was totally unaware of the G60 coming this year and they just had a production type meeting yesterday allegedly educating them on models.

How can this forum know so much more than dealerships ? LOLOLOL

I am going to try and find a good used (2020 or 2021 min year) m550i or m5 to replace my wife's 2018 m550i since the v8 is going away it seems.

Did you just make that up? Jason needs to confirm before anything is trusted on this forum.

question, why would you replace a 2018 with a 2020? Isn't it the exact same thing?

Looks exactly the same, but the 2020 got the updated engine a year before the body upgrades and tech upgrades of the LCI 2021 model.

i5 ship dates?

It sounds like the i5 will be announced in October 2023, does that mean they'll be delivering vehicles by end of year? What is the typical announcement -> delivery timeline like for BMW EVs?

It will very likely be late May. There are some people here who will and have argued that is not true though... or maybe it's one person.

compared to what MB just released for the E class, it won't be a high bar to cross

Relative to what it’s proceeding, I thought they did a good job. If you’re an E class buyer, you probably dig it. Hoping BMW does something similar, in relation to the G30

Are there any updates on normal, gasoline power plants ?
Haven't seen anything since the initial post, and everything lately is "I5" stuff
Wondering if top non-M5 will have V8 or hybrid I6

I think production will start this summer, so we should see them in person by early/mid fall, I would think.

Well they are building the last g30 now , some people on these forums waiting for theirs are are just being built. I guess dingolfing is getting everything set up to start priding the production cars. I wonder how many preproduction cars are existence, presumably quite a few as they will some for photography for brochures.
Must be a interesting industry to be in.
Even though I decided against a g60 for several reasons and go for a g30 m550 , I’m still very interested to see one in the metal.
With the possible exception of the e60, the fives have always been great cars so the g60 has a lot to live up to.

I also wonder if anyone has already test driven a preproduction car without all the camouflage on for a review and currently under a NDA.?

Unlikely anyone other than a BMW employee or some very trusted folks have seen the car in metal. The renderings are coming from what folks remember seeing, so definitely there has to be some crowd. However, it’s uncertain/unlikely anyone got to test drive it on open road without the camo, the automotive paparazzo would have caught it

So test drives only in camo and likely stationary parked vehicles in factory, or r&d/design facilities with no camo. It’s got to be under security.

Was told be a helpful BMWFS agent that these cars (i5 and the new 5) won’t show up before end of the year stateside. Perhaps priority is Europe for first few months (summer production vehicles).

Hoping we will hear all available engine variants and their release date worldwide in May, that would help a lot of us plan. If it’s only focused on i5, the confirmation on the gasoline engines will likely wait until later date. Perhaps someone knows what’s to be announced!
