I also had this feeling about putting too many miles on the M. But i really don't see the point in having an M3 and a 335. I contemplated getting an all electric Ford Focus at one point. After really running the numbers and thinking about it for a month or so i realized two things. 1) The lease cost of a E-Focus costs about the same as my fuel costs for the M. 2) The difference in resale value was not nearly enough to justify spending the same amount of money each month to drive and electric ford focus for 60% of my mileage.

It basically came down to relegating myself to driving an E-focus hoping that the resale on the M was going to increase by $5k. Which it would not. Cars are meant to be driven. Great cars provide great returns in the form of driving enjoyment, well worth it from my point of view.

Honestly, I don't track everyday, I drive and put miles. New M3/4 pricing, imo is atrocious. Yes, your getting a high performance vehicle, but it's not as practical or worth the extra $ imo.

That said, neither is a new 335 and actually any car in its category. I got mine for a steal, so I'm pretty happy. I would not pay sticker for my car.

Drove a new 911 for a week. Loved it.

My next car will be a 911 S, always loved the flat 6.

I do agree with your workmanship comment - and I apply this to everything I do in life. From tools, to furniture, to home purchases, etc. This is why I build a fence, rather than pay someone to fence my property.

I don't buy and sell watches, but I do keep track of value. Don't like taking too big of a hit. Thing is, buying a watch is very much like buying a car. There is a lot of fluff with pricing. One just needs the time to trim said fluff .


I like doing things on my own, and I'm young enough to justify it. That said, I would trust myself with doing shit that may affect others.

I had a regular Jetta before the GLI. It was my "sensible car decision" at the time. Most boring two years of my life. Never again.

If I were to drive an M2/M4 daily, my fuel consumption is going to double compared to what it is now. Plus, at 22-25k miles per year, depreciation is a bitch. I honestly think I just need to bite the bullet and move closer to work.

I just noticed your E46 M sig list. I too had a B&B on my first E46M.

When i sold the car, i sold the exhaust to a guy who paid someone to put it on. Drove out of the shop, down the road for a 1/2 mile and then paid the shop to take it off because it was too loud. He sold it for like $100 a year later. lol

I fuckin wish that B&B ran their business better. Back in college me and three other dudes had E36s. My Z3 2.8 Dinan, 2 M3s, and a 325i... We ALL had B&B Triflow exhausts. One of THE best exhausts of the era. Cars sounded like DTM cars of the day. No DRONE. That sweet spot at 4-5k RPM under full throttle...goose bumps.

Now, very few manufacturers care about tone. And the turbo 6s just don't have that harmonic tone it used to have.

Haha it's an underrated exhaust, for sure. I really enjoy it. Although, it does drone right at 80mph. Gets a little annoying but when you open it up, you can't help but smile. I'm really interested to see what it's going to sound like with the headers installed.

I daily drove my E63 M6 until I got the i8. Monthly fuel bills of $800-900 were not unusual but my gawd the glorious sound of the Tubi X-pipe and Tubi Rumore (Race) Section 3 were worth every dime. Throw in 5 gals of 110 octane, install the 95 octane tune, and get ready to hide the women and children!!

Damn...I may go out and drive it this evening!!
