If you're staying and can take that same pic during the storm surge, I'd appreciate it. My house is just to the right of center in that frame
Nice house!
I'll post pics every so often as long as there is power and Internet.

Great weather right now!
Thanks. I'd urge to get out (or at least to a reasonable floor - not too high nor too low). Power will be diverted for the flood pumps, elevators will be locked on the roof level since the shafts become inundated.
Thanks man. I am not staying in my condo for the storm. Will be going to my office in Doral tomorrow. It's as close to a bunker as can be.

Still good weather here. But I can already see the winds picking up a little from the ripples in the water.

Yeah it's strengthening and gunning for the spine of Florida. "Worst case scenario" they're saying. I have plenty of the 3 Bs. Booze, batteries, bullets. Will take pics and post as its hitting Sunday night in Orlando.

Correct - it's Houston in 2005 during the evacuation for Rita. Reports are that about 90 people died solely due to the evacuation. It's a major reason why there was no call for mass evacuations for Harvey this year.

People,

Irma is 80 miles wide. I know some of you have heard countless warnings, but If you can leave, leave. Because your home survived other hurricanes, doesn't mean it will be okay for this one. Hailing from hurricane alley (caribbean raised), I can tell you that storms seem to impact each home differently. I have seen homes that survived Hugo (Cat 4, 1989), be torn down by Marilyn (Cat 3, 1995). Search for articles involving "Florida build codes since hurricane Andrew". You should be able to get a sense of the type of damage that might occur, even if your home met some of the newer codes.

I typed the post earlier, but deleted it. So, I guess I'm really clearing my conscience. I'm simply conveying my experience with hurricanes and the articles that are informative. As always, people are free to do as they please.

Yes, Northeast quadrant is bad. There will definitely still be impact on the east coast of the state. However, may still be better to be in NE quadrant of a storm with a center 70-100 miles away than in the middle of it as was being forecast up until today. Of course, there is no guarantee it won't shift back further east overnight. But right now, us on the east coast are more worried for those west of us than we were yesterday.

We are Austin to Houston.

“Take it seriously, because this is the real deal,” said Maj. Jeremey DeHart, a U.S. Air Force Reserve weather officer who flew through Irma’s eye at 10,000 feet.

Hmm, text me. I'll be out and about riding through enjoying the light traffic. It's a ghost town I assume?

I'm over in downtown Tampa in a high rise which they say can withstand up to 160 mph, but still strongly considering leaving. Only thing is the traffic would be horrific and probably be a sitting duck out there.

School me, if a building can withstand 160 mph but say the winds are 165 mph, is it FUBAR because of only 5 mph over?
