What's the big deal with Tumi? Literally all of the kids from Qatar at my school have a Tumi bag, usually a roller, and they have retail stores in high-end malls.

It's sold at "high end" dept stores and thus perceived as desirable

I've never bought a Tumi product, but the only people I know who love them are not the most discerning. Handling the product in person, I thought, there is no way I'm spending this for this. It was like $200 for a Dopp kit. As for durability, I cannot comment.

The only reason that I like Tumi is that I bought a Tumi wallet for $80+- about 10 years ago, and it is still going strong. Very good quality for the price.

I hate big wallets, and have never understood the compulsion to spend more than $40 on one. I usually go to a department store or Marshalls, Loehmann's, etc, find a bifold that has a pull-out leather insert (think it's called a card case) that folds in half and has two window pockets, and get that. It's usually around $20. I throw out the outer bifold or leave it on the street for some homeless person to sell for $5 to someone, and keep the leather insert portion. The less bulk the wallet takes up, imo, the better. All I want is a window to show my ID behind, a couple of insert pockets for a cc/bank card or two, and something that folds in half to contain my folded bills. That's served me fine for many years.
Actually I think this one's pretty nice, though actually a little thicker than I ideally prefer. http://www.tumi.com/product/index.js...ndSrc=paramNav

yup, that's exactly the kinda wallet I don't want. This one... http://www.tumi.com/product/index.js...ndSrc=paramNav Just the passcase insert is what I'd want.
