Survey interview

So uh I need to do this survey interview and my procrastination has the best of me - so off topic to the rescue! I just need 3 responses to these questions but you guys can chime in your own thoughts as well if you want.

Thanks in advance.

1. What do you feel is the leading cause of the increasing rates of childhood obesity in school-aged children? Why do you feel that way?

2. Some people believe that school systems are a contributing factor to the problem of childhood obesity. What steps do you feel the school system s should be taking to combat this issue?

3. Some people also feel that parents contribute to this issue. In what ways do you feel parents influence the issue of childhood obesity, either positively or negatively?

4. How do you feel the media impacts this issue positively and negatively? What should they be doing differently?

5. What methods should be used to increase the amount of physical activity of the children?

6. If you could do one or two things to help make children in the community the healthiest they could be, what would you do? Why would you do those things?

1. What do you feel is the leading cause of the increasing rates of childhood obesity in school-aged children? Why do you feel that way?

Fat parents are bad parents. Eating habits are formed at home.

2. Some people believe that school systems are a contributing factor to the problem of childhood obesity. What steps do you feel the school system s should be taking to combat this issue?

Nothing. School is for education. Schools should not be determining what children can/cannot eat

3. Some people also feel that parents contribute to this issue. In what ways do you feel parents influence the issue of childhood obesity, either positively or negatively?

Parents play the biggest role in a child's dietary habits. The responsibility lies mainly with them.

4. How do you feel the media impacts this issue positively and negatively? What should they be doing differently?

positive: brings awareness to the issue of obesity
negative: portrays obesity as a norm in society.
rather, it should be shown as a huge problem that will just destroy any health care bill budget that's currently out there.

5. What methods should be used to increase the amount of physical activity of the children?

play sports...improves social interaction and exercise habits.

6. If you could do one or two things to help make children in the community the healthiest they could be, what would you do? Why would you do those things?
make education of the dangers of obesity a requirement for phys ed classes.
obesity is f'ing disgusting, and a huge % of today's population accept it as norm / embrace it, in some cases. (personally speaking I'd never hire a heavily obese person. appearance does speak volumes. being obese just says that you don't care about anything...LAZY

1. What do you feel is the leading cause of the increasing rates of childhood obesity in school-aged children? Why do you feel that way?

Stupid, uneducated, lazy people having too many kids. They may have good intentions, and they are feeding their kids, but they are feeding them easy to make pre-packaged crap. Partially because its easy partially because its cheap. People are also not spending time with their kids outside. The computer/videos/video games have replaced physical activity.

2. Some people believe that school systems are a contributing factor to the problem of childhood obesity. What steps do you feel the school system s should be taking to combat this issue?
All the schools can/should do is educate. Maybe some simple 10 minute activity that a kid can do with a parent that shows the difference between good food and crap. Make people aware of calories and what it takes to burn them. That is 30 minutes of running burns xxx calories, a Coke contains xxx calories.

3. Some people also feel that parents contribute to this issue. In what ways do you feel parents influence the issue of childhood obesity, either positively or negatively?

Almost all problems with kids begin and end with parents or lack of parents. Kids will do what they see their parents do, if you sit around, eat shit and play video games your kids will too. Active parents have kids who enjoy activities.

4. How do you feel the media impacts this issue positively and negatively? What should they be doing differently?
The media is the media, it is not the job of the media to fix problems it is their job to sell advertising.

5. What methods should be used to increase the amount of physical activity of the children?

Parents, play with your kids. Play with your kids and your kids friend.

6. If you could do one or two things to help make children in the community the healthiest they could be, what would you do? Why would you do those things?
I will focus on making my kid one of the healthy ones, if she has a friend who wants to come and play too that friend is welcome to come along. Society can’t fix this, schools can’t fix this. This is a problem at home.
