Junk?
So I found another offer like I was referring to when I started this thread. It's in the new Road and Track, in the back within the ads. It's one of the $29.99 + $5 SH and you get 12 different cigars in a travel case. I forget the website off hand at work right now. Anyway, are these offers typically junk and a waste of money? They say "limit 1 per person". Is that to intice you into thinking it's a good deal, or do they really lose money on the deal just hoping to get customers?
I DO still think the R&J deal I posted at the beginning of this thread is a killer deal. |

Most large cigar companies have these offers. Go with one from Thompson or JR Cigar.
Of course, it's only $35. Does it show a picture? Go to a small smoke shop, ask for advice from the owner. Tell him/her that you want to buy 5 cigars, all for $6 or less each. You're better off, in my opinion, than with 12 cigars you may not enjoy. You can tell the tobacconist if you want mild/medium/strong cigars. If you don't smoke more than 1/week, 5 cigars will last a while, and you don't want to waste a cigar smoking occasion with a bad cigar. You probably don't have a humidor to keep 12 cigars anyway. Give the local guy your business, not the Megamart distributor. If you ever make it up to Jacksonville, Edward's of San Marco is an outstanding shop. Sandy (woman) is the owner, very knowledgeable, sweet lady. Inherited the business from her father years ago. When I lived in Ponte Vedra Beach, I frequented her shop. After moving away, I occasionally called her to buy boxes of Fuentes; she always had a good supply. Chateau (only with the sun grown wrapper) are still my favorite (relatively cheap) cigars. What do you know! I have her business card here in my wallet. Last time I bought a box from her was 3 years ago, when my son was born. You guys in Canada may be able to buy cigars from her, but I don't know. Wouldn't hurt to ask! Sandra L.
