Because they expect it to be sweetened?

While in Venice years ago I was waiting for my espresso in this little shop. This old mailman guy pushing a little wheeled basket thing came in. He didn't say a word and the gal behind the counter pours him a tall glass of white wine. He slams it down in one lift, thanks her and is out the door.

We have mornings ALL wrong.

I was watching some documentary on Starbucks and I thought I heard that. I also heard that the original owner of Peets used to roast all of the Beans at the first Starbucks in Seattle.
Other way around, the Starbucks guys learned from Peets. There were rumors a few years ago that when old man Peet died, Starbucks had bought them, but they proved to be false. Since Peets started in Berkeley decades before Starbucks, I'd say that there was no roasting in Seattle.

You are right... Wikipedia confirms that they learned from Peets on how to properly roast beans... But it also does say that durring the first year of business Starbucks just bought their beans from Peets.

Sure, I'd believe that Peets sold beans to Starbucks, but not the other way around. Peets still manages to do a dark roast that doesn't taste scorched, something that Starbucks doesn't seem to be able to do. I suppose some people like the burnt flavor, but I'm not one of them.

Home: Green Gecko 100% kona, best "esoteric" beans I've had yet. Better than GJs peaberry IMO. French pressed, of course

Out: 'Bucks venti iced coffee, primarily for the caffeine content

Yeah I can't stand Starbucks coffee either.. or their espresso for that matter. Always tastes like a burnt asshole because the people making it have NO idea what they are doing.
