Behold The Awesome!
Behold the slight awesomeness of this stunning 1990[ish] chevy Z24 convertible, fitted with tasteful aftermarket cowl induction for the factory 192 ci., 3.1 liter V6 engine with Multi-Port Fuel Injection. The massive 140 HP @ 4200 RMP and 185 ft/lb torque are put to the ground through the front wheels via a 3-speed automatic transmission. Quick-ratio power rack-and-pinion steering, Power front disc/rear drum brakes and Special Support Suspension complete the package. High-profile tires on 15” wheels complete the look.
I happened to notice that the hood scoop does obscure about 50% of the forward visibility, and does not actually connect to any part of the engine. This unusual design apparently pressurizes the entire engine compartment to ‘holistically improve performance” by making everything under the bonnet “just a little bit cooler than stock”. Apparently it once provided enough positive air pressure at speed to blow the rear window out of the car. Evidently the owner retained the factory single-pipe dual tip exhaust to avoid drawing excessive attention to the car. Good call there. Spotted in the wild this weekend in LA.
