Possesed turn signals on my Mini?

I know there are several other Mini owners around here. Have you ever seen this? I pulled into the driveway last night, and the front and rear right turn indicators on my wife's Mini were lit. Not blinking, glowing steadily. I got in to start it up to make sure the battery wasn't drained, and saw she had left the turn signal stalk pushed up. What would make the light stay on after she turned the car off? Is that a bug or a feature?

Not sure I follow the question - didn't you have the parking light on?

i thought some cars had this feature? as a safety thing, the indicator light can be left on whilst parked on the side of a road so as to alert other drivers that there is a car parked there?

That's a feature that is required in the euro cars. When you are outside of the city limits you are required to use parking lights in most countries. Hence when the car is turned off you can either press the directional lever up or down to light up the front and back on the respective left and right hand side.

It actually makes some sense since that way people will notice a car a lot earlier when it is parked in a dark street or in an area that is not properly illuminated.

That is correct
