M3, GT-R, or Cayman S

Suppose you had $70,000 to play with and could comfortably afford the insurance and maintenance costs.

The new M3, Nissan GT-R, and Porsche Cayman S will all cost around $70,000 with options.

Which one would you buy?

For my money, it's the Cayman S FTW. To me, it remains the epitome of what a sports car should be. Plus you get Porsche reliability and resale value. It's also much lower-profile than the GT-R.

Gotta agree, Cayman S - I have not driven either of the other two - but the fact that the Cayman is the only one under 3,000 lbs and mid-engined makes it just about perfect for me.

either the cayman or the GT-R.

But i'd have to see how the GT-R feels and what aftermarket support is like.

I hate to say it but GT-R. That car will put a beating on 99% of the cars out there.

If I could only have one car the M3 would definitely be it. the cayman is under 3000 lbs for a reason it's TINY. and as far as the GT-R it's fugly

+1

It performs great, has a back seat, looks awesome(IMHO), and is a longtime favorite of mine.

GTRRRRRR!

More room, detroys the competition in a straight line and on a track. Gets much better power at elevation (I'm at 4500) due to the turbo's automatically adjusting boost to compensate for altitude. It has AWD, which isn't a must, but would be nice in bad weather, it would be a dd for me.

And of course, I can tune it for another 100hp most likely with just a piggyback! But even if I couldn't do this, I would still pick it.

If it was based purely on looks, I'd pick the cayman S (would be great with a SC and another 100hp tho)

With the limited production of gtr's, it will hold it's value the best, not to mention that the old gtr's are still selling for close to full price.

Only one problem though! It won't be selling for 70k anytime soon!! All three of my dealers, in a state that isn't big, are allocated 1 the first year and 3 the 2nd, and there are plenty of people willing to pay 90k+ for the exclusity!!!!

If I could buy one for 75k , I'd do it tonight. It won't happen though.

Take a look on Autotrader & see how many used Caymans' there are....
my bias might be showing but the M coupe is the obvious competitor for the Cayman

No chance for the M3.

Leaning toward Cayman.

Need to drive GT-R before deciding.

Caymen S and M3 - excellent cars, but not Supercar category. GT-R is 450+ horse / Twin Turbos / AWD. Only 5 other supercars have done a lap at Nurburgring track faster.
GT-R meets Supercar quulifications - sorry NOT Caymen S or M3!

Whether a car qualifies as a "supercar" means nothing to me.

Drive 'em all and buy the one you like (if you can afford it).

GT-R for sure. I would pick GT-R over 911 Turbo and F430. Cayman S and M3 are nice, but they are not GT-R.

Not me dude. The GT-R may be really fast and really cool, but what about the chicas?

Hot women, and by hot I mean LA 9.2+ gold digger/ trophy wife hotties, are drawn to a red Ferrari like moths to a flame.

Think with the little head!
