Wow, Gnarly crash. Glad everyone is alright.

Definitely try to fight for it to be totaled out.

Some of my family just were in an accident in their new GLE 63s, car was messed up bad but insurance ended up going through with repairs. They took about a 20k-30k hit in the value of their car.

If you do manage to recover the car's footage, I'd be really interested what it managed to capture as well. I'm in an i5 now and I've held off on a dashcam figuring the car will record, but I didn't think about an accident bricking it entirely.
UPDATE - We just found out unofficially that she was arrested at the scene.

On the BMW side, seems like the Drive Pro engineers weren't talking to the Main Electrical team, who put the main electrical system in "shut down" mode when major occurance (i.e. airbags deployed) happens. So the Drive Pro has recorded the accident...there's just no way to access it because you need the main dash powered up to plug in a flash drive at the front consul to pull the footage from. BUMMER!

From my experience, a "true T-bone" type of situation is someone getting hit directly from one of the sides. Making impact with the B-pillar support area. Looks like your front end got severely clipped in the front instead. Glad you all are ok. Dogs usually don't wear seatbelts. So glad the pet was able to walk away too.

Damn, that's a bummer. Wonder if a collision center could recover it with some electronic trickery. At least there's no doubt the other party is at fault here, so you hopefully don't personally need it. Thanks for sharing what you've discovered and again, glad you and the family and dog are doing OK.

Wait until there are no federal regulations for anything it will be great. Can’t wait till they get rid of stop signs and stoplights. No more road signs. No more driver’s licenses. We’re are gonna save a ton when these regulations go away.
