Thanks guys, I'll take a look at these. I hate to cheap out on it but I'm just not that into watches...yet I feel obligated to wear one. Trying to find something that I can wear to the office and casually. As far as style goes I love the Breitlings and almost convinced myself to spend $1700 on one. The Zodiac linked above is kind of what I am looking for - croc/leather band with a metal face.

Tag Heuer, save up for it.
Though their entry level price for a watch is a little less than 1,000, not sure exactly. Its their Formula One models (sporty, everyday quality timepiece) But if you want to go baller (tag heuer grand carrera =) my next one Their warranty service is great as well to compared to to other companies (2 weeks turnaround time *send in, fix, send back* ) as opposed to 1 month all the way to 3

Sure. Seiko has some cool looking stuff. If you want big and less common, consider Invicta.

I was fortunate enough to find a Tag Monaco (Brand new) for $900 from OC Craigslist. I get a lot of complements every time I wear my Tag to meetings.

I own a Tag and an Omega, and I can definitely say that the fit and finish of the Omega is better.
I'd go Omega before Tag now anyday.

I love my Omega- it fits well, and people always compliment it even though it's very simple. Its a Seamaster.
I just bought a Cartier Ronde Solo- love it! |

^ Yeah I was skeptic at first, however:
- He showed me the receipt from Tourneau with serial number, barcode, etc all matching. Also, he knew someone from the store and got the watch discounted. - Tag Monaco is Self Winding Automatic Movement, thus making it quite expensive to replicate. - The seller was desperate to sell due to financial hardship IMO: Omega = Lexus (Quality) Tag = BMW (Chicks dig it)

Anyone here heard of a brand called Damasko? It's suppose to be like the Lexus of watches right now. Wait times for the watches can be up to a year and the quality and technology is better than Omega and Breitling.

That's a pretty nice looking watch. Just a little busy for my taste. The crystal looks pretty much invisible. I assume there's an anti-reflective coating.

Casio G-Shock. Best watch ever made, damn near indestructible and good looking too. Automatics are for people with more money than they otherwise know what to do with. Though I can appreciate the mechanical beauty of an automatic, it doesn't keep time any better than a quartz watch, worse in fact.
Then what, exactly, are you grading on? Watches are made to tell time. If a $10 watch tells better time than one costing three thousand times more money, you're paying $29,990 for a name and the styling? At least with Ferraris and Porsches that are slower than ZR-1's and GT-R's there's an argument that the Ferrari/Porsche is more rewarding to drive and is only more expensive by a factor of 1-3 or so, but what is the rational behind buying something that is functionally inferior and costs more than something else by a factor of 3,000?

It was a little busier than I was originally looking for but it grew on me, and the price was right . There isn't a coating that I'm aware of, probably just the angle the photo was taken.
