2025 5 Series AM Radio

The infotainment manual shows an AM radio but other series while showing it actually don’t have it.

Does it have it?

My i5 eDrive40 does not. The manual shows ALL features available worldwide, not just the one's in your region.

I haven't tried, but using a streaming app in CarPlay will be your alternative.

No AM radio in Canada, either. Some FM stations are digital and have subchannels. The local AM news station, for example, is replicated on another station’s subchannel.

Same here - the manual says it’s a thing but only FM shows up in the media menu. I’m not shocked given the change in technology - is there a way you can access it through your phone and then stream through Bluetooth/CarPlay etc?

I can’t remember where I heard this so take it with a grain of salt, but I heard that electric vehicles interfere with AM radio signals so the “I” 5 series doesn’t have this while the ICE models do.

Interference is a non issue if designed correctly even for evs.

In the western states they use AM for local highway and weather alerts. You can’t stream these alerts. Thus why I was checking.

Kinda dumb to now have to carry an AM radio in glovebox.
