HVAC set to 70F, seat heating and steering wheel heating on medium. I had been driving for about 15 minutes, and no not downhill, lol, And not using efficient mode.

My M60 in 17 degrees (that’s Celsius as it’s the proper way of measuring temp….&#128521 is only getting 240miles at 100%!!

I don’t know what you guys are doing to get over 300miles!??

Driving at 40 in efficient with max range mode engaged….?? 🤷🏼*♂️

correct, i never would drive in that mode, but you go in it and select activate max range and it turns of one of the motors or reduces power drastically, was stuck in traffic so wanted to see it

There’s clearly a lot of variability. I have only charged to 100% once or maybe twice and now just charged to 70% - I just finished my charge at the office and 70% gets me 210miles - which correlates to 300miles at 100%

I will say, when I start driving around, it seems to settle into the mid 270’s range - which tracks with my efficiency numbers of 3.3 to 3.4miles/kWh. I think of the range on the screen as a “suggestion” but your efficiency numbers should be able to multiply up by your actual usable battery capacity of 81.2 kWh.

What efficiency are you currently seeing Mac?

Personal mode. Speeds from 0 to 50 mph. Stop and go, not totally flat, but not hilly either. And a few "fun" 0-50s too

I have NEVER even tried Max range. We are driving a near $100K BMW...I am not going to sit and drive in a car without HVAC and drive 25mph

My efficiency avg. bounces between 3.4 and 3.9 miles/kWh, at least according to the My BMW app.

According to app I’m averaging 2.9mi/kwh. That’s over my first 1000miles roughly. With mainly my commute which is short country roads either end and motorway for majority in the middle.

I do have a heavy right foot! I didn’t buy the car to drive “sensibly” though. So I guess what I’m seeing is accurate.

And tbh, my old Tesla M3P would “say” 300miles at 100%, but that wouldn’t equate accurately to real world miles. However the M60 I would say is pretty accurate if not a little underestimated…..
I’ve also found the range drops a bit quicker initially but then seems to slow up a bit and go down slower than the actual mileage…. So swings and roundabouts I guess….

I am ranging from a low of 2.3 to a high of 4.5 depending on the trip, with 2.3 being mainly uphill and 4.5 with more downhill driving. I’ve tried efficient mode for a short time, but it’s still too cold out to not use the heat. Other than limiting my top speed, which is fine for around town driving, it didn’t really change anything for me.

I’ve been changing to 90% over the last few weeks, with shuttling my husband to doctor appointments, physical therapy, plus my normal driving.

I think the speed is your secret weapon here my friend! I’ve book marked this ArenaEV review which has an excellent real world range calculator that was crafted from their own road tests with an i5 M60. If you fix the temperature at 60F (~16C) you see the following variation of range at different speeds:

50mph 341miles
60mph 294miles
70mph 255miles
80mph 223miles

https://www.arenaev.com/bmw_i5_m60_review-news-2975.php

Big variation on range as a function of speed. My mileage is dominated by my commute - and I’ll hit 65-80mph pretty frequently and get my 275ish routinely. It all seems to track if I squint.

I will note that there’s no magic in efficient mode - it just dulls the throttle response a lot and gives you some cool training tools through the HUD etc to try to foster better driving habits that improve efficiency (metrics for “anticipation”, “acceleration” and “speed” as you drive). But you can achieve the same efficiency in personal or sport mode. The only real difference in efficient mode is access to Max Range mode. Never used it though.
