Anyone used Carvana to sell their current car?
Not thrilled with the trade-in offer from the dealership. Thinking this is the way to go. Might get a bit more in a private sale but not interested in the hastle of going this route.
One individual has told me the process of selling to Carvana was very easy and fair. Just wondering if anyone else had any experiences they could share. Thanks in advance. |

Did look into this but then just gave the car to my son. They will send a lot of emails . The offer for the car was good and actually went up a few hundred dollars a week later. It seemed pretty straight forward also. They come take the car but will charge for shipping.

PsychDoc, is there a Car Max facility near you? I recently sold a car to them the day after our new one was delivered. I had been checking both Carvana and Car Max as the offers do change regularly and when the time came, the Car Max offer was higher than Carvana. It was seamless as I'm sure Carvana is too. If it's convenient it might not hurt to get an offer from CM to compare with Carvana.

Taking a 2024 5 series to pick up a 2024 5 series sounds kind of fun actually. Might freak out the dealer.

For added context, I also used Carmax 2x so far. Sold my 2020 G29 to Carvana a couple of years ago for a very healthy profit. Just sold my 2019 Tundra to them (after 5 years) for $1500 less than I paid for it in January 2019. Painless process, got exactly what the online quote was in both instances & walked away with a bank draft in my hand. |

I got the best offer from Kelly Blue Book for my Model S. I found out about them by an accident. Haberstaad really didn't want my car and said it would be on the low end. MB of Brooklyn actually made a deal with me. I told them I had an offer $2500 more from someone else, and they matched that number. It couldn't have been easier, and I was happy to deal with a large dealer.
I still have the guys number who handled it for me. If you want I can share his contact info. What's crazy is they sent the car directly to auction, and when I checked my vin number I saw it for sale at Riverhead Nissan less than a week later. They just dumped it, but I was happy to get rid of it. They are only asking a couple grand more than they gave me. Since I leased I wouldn't get any benefit for taxes. |

Hi PsychDoc:
I sold a brand new Lexus ES350 that I stupidly bought (not at all up to par from my previous one that I happily put 250,000 miles on). I knew within two hours that I had made a dumb purchase, but the Lexus dealership wouldn’t undue the deal. After crying for awhile, I called Carvana. They gave me a great price, waited until my DMV paperwork came through from the Lexus, came to my house, helped me do the new paperwork over their ipad, and gave me a check on the spot. (They will also do direct deposit if you want.) They did not even test drive the car, and took it away on their flatbed. That experience led me to buy my first BMW, with that Carvana cash, and to read this forum — learning a lot from folks like you who advise newbies like me. Keep us posted! |

At least for now, Carvana seems to be offering a better price. Carvana - $14,100; Carmax - $12,400. But these offers are, of course, time specific and subject to change so we'll see who has the better offer once my new car clears the VPC and gets out to the dealership. Thankfully both CarMax are Carvana have locations in my area so I'll be able to use either of them.
Unfortunately there's currently some kind of 'stop sale' in place regarding a rear seat child seat latch that has to be fixed before the car can leave the VPC. Hopefully if a fix is not immediately available they'll allow me to sign a waiver and get the car delivered now. |

On the CarMax side of the transaction, wait until the end of the 7 day quote, go on-site for your "inspection". They'll hand you a confirmation statement of the offer, which is then good for another 7 days. SO in essence you can "lock" the value for 2 weeks, given no damages to the vehicle, mechanical issues or excessive additional mileage. The CarMax guy both times told me that it was a low risk of the vehicle going up/down a couple hundred dollars from his experience over a 30 day period. Beyond that he couldn't predict. When I was waiting for my mother's i4, I dumped her Toyota at CarMax because the price was very good. We ended up waiting for 6 months for the BMW due to the war in Ukraine starting 2 weeks after I inked the P1 order. I ended up giving her my Tundra while she waited. The value on the Toyota did surprisingly drop during that time, so we did make out, but to this point you never know! |

That's amazing ... guess the dealers balked loud enough ... or louder than the lawyers!

I’m actual amazed at all of the buyers willing to sign a waiver so they can possess a defective car that could cause them a headache. I’m without my ix because of this exact situation…with a multimonth repair timeframe still looming. If you sign this acknowledgment I suspect Lemon Laws will not apply for this defect. Buyer beware!

For example the latest isofix issue is only relevant if you're going to have a small child in the back seat. If that's not the case, the issue is completely irrelevant. Just my thoughts. |

I sold my F30 to Carvana two years ago. VERY easy process. I followed their instructions online as far as submitting info/pictures of the car. Rep came to my house, took additional photos while i signed paperwork. They were in and out within 10 minutes, drove the car away and I had my check in hand. This was at the height of used car craziness, I sold my car for $500 less than what I paid for it two years prior. I'm not sure if their offers/processes have changed but my experience was very positive.

My Carvana experience was not a happy one but happened several years ago. I replaced my 2014 X3 35i with a Porsche Macan GTS and wanted to sell the X3. I jumped through all the hoops at the Carvana website and the price they were offering me was substantially higher than the local CarMax. Great, but then when all was said and done they sent me an email saying great, now please drive the car to a Carvana facility 500 miles away in California! What?! (There is a Carvana about 50 miles from me in Oregon.) I suppose I should've pushed turning it in locally, but I was so PO'd I just quit dealing with Carvana. Had I lived in CA, it probably would've gone smoothly.
