Getting a used car is kind of like getting a new job. You are changing a set of more known negatives for a new set of unknown negatives.
In your case I don't see any reasonably priced options for vehicles that you will like more than your Saab.

I think it was mentioned before but something like an E-Golf might fit the use-case? Unfortunately even those short range EVs are sitting at a premium ($25-35k). It's hard to find anything that isn't completely beat up for a reasonable price these days.
