apple and bmwusa

do I have to download something to make the car builder work?

I just got started with this whole apple stuff and it's certainly trying at times, although I friggin love the remote control and the wireless broadcasting of my itunes stuff!

maybe not being able to "build" bmw's is nice so I won't buy any more!

the easiest thing would be, assuming you have a macbook (pro), just install XP on it using bootcamp and run it from windows directly. i know, i have a copy of the car builder and haven't been able to run it yet. other than that, virtual pc won't run on intel platform so that's out of the question. yeah, bootcamp is pretty much the only way.

i went to the apple store today and saw the macbook for the first time. man, that thing is sweet. do you have the black or the white one?

I'm cheap so I got the white one, pretty cool so far, but still very very foreign to me! amazing how easy the wireless networking gets set up!

also the porsche builder only has the 2d version, while on my pc I get the choice 2d or 3d

hey ward, i probably misunderstood what you were asking. i thought you meant the E90configurator, a windows application but i guess you just want to do it on bmw's website. in that case, simple solution, install firefox and it should run no problem (even the porsche builder).

firefox, is that an alternative browser to the "safari" one that comes with the system? I'll do some googling on that to see what's up with that

Thanks for the help!

cool, yeah, firefox supports a lot more standards and websites than safari does. you can basically run the entire google suite on it without any problems while safari chokes on 50% of its features. on the other hand, it is a lot lighter/faster browser. i guess you can't have it all. firefox 2.0 (still in alpha) should supposedly be a lot faster and lighter.

i wish i had some [good] news but after applying for a few years for like a million jobs down there and had no luck (beyond a few phone interviews that all led to the question "so, you're in pittsburgh?").

i still hate it here and want to move really bad, just my energy level is now running on empty. yeah, "it sucks" can pretty much sum it up.

Man, if it's that bad just save up for a few months rent, move down here, and then start applying all over again. Maybe these guys are a little hesitant in inviting you over for an interview all the way from Pittsburgh (after all, it would be pretty demoralizing if you get rejected after such hassle of traveling).

If things don't go so well, you can always move back to the home of the '06 NFL champs.
