I just threw this kit together quickly, I might need to add some more items.....
Maybe I'll have a Cohiba and sit in the hot tub and think about what else I need.

ammo, lots of it. guns in a variety of calibers 9mm, .40, .45, 5.56, 7.62 12 gauge and something in .22lr Any that are silenced would be priceless. I think empty guns will be laying around. The people that are unarmed will go first. The people that run out of ammo next.
My opinion is it would be best to lay low in a remote location for a while. A farm or at sea would be good, but be ready with a bug out plan. Nothing loud, no loud cars motorcycles etc. it tells others where you are. Air observation would be excellent, drone, copter, plane, but you have to remember it is like tracers, it works both ways. What goes up must come down. Eventually it can be used to locate your base. IF you think you can just lock up your house and live there post an apocalyptic event-EMP, Viral Outbreak, Economic Collapse, NBC you won't last long. We live on a farm now and I enjoy it immensely. However, I have learned a lot over the last four years. We are on a well and that is great but without power there is no well and that equals no water so no showers, no flushing toilettes, no washing your hands/face etc. With out power no refrigerators, microwaves, heat, lights, phones, internet, communications, laptops, TV/News. It would be like living in the stone ages. I have read lots of survival books and we have lots of country living books. These would also be really useful. How many can actually can fruit? Raise and then butcher livestock? Grow vegetables and safely can them? Utilize a cold storage? Here on the farm in the last year we installed a solar system and a whole house generator. Even I recognize there is a limit to how long the propane tanks will last but with the solar we should have day time electricity for the next thirty years. If you think your ready then try it. Turn off your water for five days. Eat those dehydrated food packs after boiling water on a fire place stove with wood you have sourced, cut, chopped and seasoned. I truly respect a lot of the people on this board and this is just some food for thought on what could be an interesting subject. Good Luck Last edited by Lucky John; 03-01-2019 at 12:34 AM.. |

Im thinking the good play (being that I'm in a city on the water) would be to snatch a mega yacht and head out to sea. 4,000 to 6,000 nautical mile range. You could get a couple hundred miles offshore and just hang out for months. No one would see or find you. Assuming the ship was stocked up with food you'd be set. Luxury in the apocalypse.

My parents have 150 acres out in the country. Got cows, chickens, and a well for water. Also plenty of firearms. I’d just chill there.

Nice! Just noticed the Woodford sign above the safe. You and I have very similar tastes. So, the big question...Got a bottle of Pappy stashed away in there? I'm on a never ending hunt for good, reasonably priced, stand-ins for Pappy 23.

No pappy, but I've had it. My best buddy and I do a road trip almost every year. He is the Whiskey Consultant for Johnny Walker her in Canada and owns a business called The Scotch Experience.....Lucky prick. Anyway we've made the trip to Bardstown Kentucky a number of times for Bourbonfest. There a bar there called The Rickhouse and they have a phenomenal bar back....all bourbon. If you're nice to the bartender and tip well they will give you a pretty solid pour. We drank if I recall Pappy 12, 18 and definitely the 23. They charge $100 a pour for the 23. It was good, I don't know if I'd pay that for a bottle, you don't see it very often and I think when we did it was about $700 but I think you're looking at more like $1500 now.
