Not a damn thing. I've learned too many good lessons from the crappy things I've been through.

My regret, academically speaking, was not going to Boalt after I was accepted there.

I'm just going off what seems to be the current trend. Most people in that field tell me Law has become saturated so you really have to go to one of those top programs to make it worth it. But I'm now a lawyer so you know better than me.

Locally I know people who did Law at Seattle U and seem to be doing fine at firms in the area.

Law is saturated now. You're right about that. It really depends how and when you hit the market. It wasn't that bad about 15 years ago. Its dropping off somewhat I think. Many of the private law schools have a number of unfilled seats each year which is kind of interesting. Bar admissions are down a bit too and California seems to still rein supreme on unaccredited law schools, essentially, mills, that turn out ill prepared candidates in significant numbers.

There are definitely things that if I could go back, I might give more consideration to, but all things considered I'm where I probably should be. If I had to change something, it's probably not being such a waste my first two years of college. Having said that, it's hard to really know if my life would have turned out much better than it has now.

I suppose the two biggest things I've learned in my life is that there really isn't much in life that's nearly as important as myself or others make them out to be. However, the things that really are important likely differ by individual. But this outlook, although simple, has really helped me get through things and not take the good or the bad all that seriously in most (not all) cases. And then when it comes to "stuff" (cars are a great example), I've grown to appreciate the process. I like the ability to experience different types of cars at different points in life as I've grown older. Many people just go right out of school and opt for that lease-spec 3 series thinking it is some type of success symbol. I've always liked BMW cars, but never in a hurry to get one. I loved my time with a base model mk5 GTI back in the day, which I bought after I got my first real job out of school. And now I have a fairly base-spec M3 which is much nicer than the GTI. Despite all that greatness, I still see nicer cars like various Porsches and corvettes, which are very appealing. I'm quite ok with the idea that I'll get there some day, no doubt about it. Enjoy the M3 for what it is and when the time comes in the next few years, I'll be ready for the next step.

I'd have followed my gut before i got married, I suspected it'd be how it's been but didn't have the stones to call it off.

Mistake.

Related to this, I was determined to go home before we had kids but caved in.

Bigger mistake.

I disagree. You always have a choice. The choice might be between a shitty situation or shittier one, but you still have a choice.

Same. This. Smartest thing I've ever done.

If nothing would change about the birth of my wonderful daughter, I would have played sports in college...I had multiple scholarship offers. I can't think of much I'd change beyond that. Perhaps go to medical school when offered when I was 26 or so.

Other than that, I'm pretty ok with the choices I've made. Pull the threads and the tapestry will unravel.

without getting into details, for past few years I had special events that
were ruined by someone and all i asked was support. it wasnt there.
the environment was tense too much negativity and unhealthy.
when i decided enough is enough, I walked away. My actions created
a domino effect with those who i thought were close to me have pushed away.
I knew this was going to happen. With time I learn to accept the reality, its just me and my clan.
what doesnt kill you makes you stronger.

You can choose to stay with them even if they are shitty parents or leave and cut all ties when you can (tell a teacher/CPS).

Still a choice.

Plus sticking out some shitty situations make you a better person for it.

Come on man, obviously in some cases you can leave, but you cannot choose your parents. Just admit your statement was way too general & false. Good day

Or a serial killer. I watch a lot of Criminal Minds, so I am pretty much an expert now.

Life is not fair, getting shitty parents is not fair.

You can choose a way out if it's as bad as you make it seem to be, especially in this day and age.

No you can't choose your parents or how they treat you, all I'm saying is there are choices available to better a situation....
