I'm having some weird buggy issues but otherwise normal.
Specifically I cannot delete the contents of my spam folder.

Gmail is hosted on a large amount of servers. It's not surprising that only some people will be affected if one goes down. What's funny is that they install newer versions of the gmail web application on different server at different times, so it's not uncommon for your gmail to have slightly different features than those of another account.
