The Watches of SIHH 2016
Hi all. Let's post watches from SIHH here in this thread. Even if you didn't go, there are plenty of pictures from press coverage. Post what you love, post what you - share your thoughts and stories. I will post mine when I get to a computer and can resize my images (probably tomorrow or Friday). I want to see what everyone else thinks.
Oh yeah... That's right - flickr exists, forgot about that. Edit: Cannot tell if it is working. Here is the album URL. https://flickr.com/photos/8425850@N0...57663040597659 Cornes de Vache Patrimony Perpetual CEP Overseas Ultrathin Perpetual Patrimony 42mm A table full of Overseas (hehe) Overseas Chrono (maybe my next? The dial is mesmerizing - lacquered for depth) Overseas Date Last edited by jtodd_fl; 01-26-2016 at 06:33 AM.. Reason: Fixed with photos embedded.... |

Right? That thing is a stunning work of art! Somewhat fond of this offering too (not my photo - obviously). Even less attainable, but equally beautiful, the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon. Was hoping for another Zeitwerk piece, but no such luck this year.

the new VC's have officially reaffirmed my decision to pick up an oversea's chrono in the older style- going to list my JLC and UN for sale
love everything that ALS came out with, hate most of the AP and new VC stuff though :/

Thanks for the feedback. For me, I actually like the VCs. Love the ALS. Hate the AP. We do NOT need yet another Royal Oak. And Millenary - no thanks. How about some new Jules Audemars pieces???

Yeah... that is definitely on my short list - especially with that blue dial. I must say that the ultra-thin (of they come out with it in a steel version) will be high on my list too... that little two-hander is a great homage to the 222 and would be super cool to have (in my opinion).

You prompted me to do a little more digging on this piece. It is gorgeous. Sadly, it is a limited edition (200 pieces)!which gives it a limited edition price. Hopefully they will make a production version. Might need to start saving my pennies.

Just a brief bit of background. My father is a watch collector, and he purchases most of his watches when we vacation in Jamaica every Christmas (he is originally from there). Over the years the seller he's used has become more of a friend. So this year the seller invited us to accompany him to SIHH 2016, the Audemars Piguet and IWC Gala events, and a tour of the Jaegar LeCoultre factory complete with a watch Masterclass!! I got to shake hands with Stephen Forsey (of Greubel & Forsey) and had him personally explain all of his favorite features of the GMT and how they designed the individual aspects and case!! The trip was a whirlwind of amazing timepieces, meeting bigwigs from all over the industry, and attending the swankiest parties I have ever been to. A lifetime worth of memories for the watch enthusiast of any level. The below photos are merely a small fraction of the brands I got to play with. We visited IWC, Lange, JLC, HYT, MontBlanc (and saw a $1.2m pen), Greubel, AP, VC, and Richard Mille. The below photos are some of my all-time grail watches that I may never have the chance to see or wear in person ever again. My dad has his eyes on 3 of the below - the Zeitwork (he already paid for it), Datograph Tourbillon (although the Datograph Perpetual with the grey face was possibly more stunning), and the Greubel GMT Pink gold limited edition. I also made a video of the JLC Master Grande Gyrotourbillon 3 which I could literally stare at for hours with a loupe. Diamonds aren't really my thing but JLC LOVED to show us how proficient they were with their upper tier luxury items. A. Lange & Söhne Grande Lange 1 Lumen by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr A. Lange & Söhne Terra Luna by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr This one is actually belongs to my Dad, but I always love to get it on my wrist: Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre Spherotourbillon by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr Jaeger-LeCoultre Sistine Chapel by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr Jaeger LeCoultre Master Grande Gyrotourbillon 3 by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr This watch, while not my style, was absolutely amazing. The Tourbillion acted as the minute hand, so as you changed the time the tourbillon would rotate around the face of the watch!! I think they said this piece was close to $700k. Jaeger LeCoultre Diamond Rotating Tourbillon by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr Greubel Forsey GMT by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr 3 Greubel Forsey GMTs by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr Greubel Forsey Double Tourbillon by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr Something truly special from Greubel. This timepiece displays The Seasons, Equinoxes, Solstices, Equation Of Time, Date, Day, Month And Four-Digit Year – all Perpetually. As you change the date it also changes the day at the same time which is cool. And once the calendar is set it will stay accurate for 127 YEARS. Greubel Forsey Quantième Perpétuel à Équation by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr Greubel Forsey GMTs by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr My personal favorite aside from the Lange's.....Limited to 22 pieces worldwide and no more will be made. This is one my father is looking at: Greubel Forsey GMT Pink Gold Limited 22 pieces worldwide by Adam Whittingham, on Flickr The side view of the GMT. Notice the line that represents the equator of the earth. The globe is made from titanium. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing the watches. Here is the new VC Overseas collection explained in interview with the brands creative director.
