TUDOR USCC @ Belle Isle Park: Detroit, MI (5/31/14)
This weekend round 4 of The IMSA Tudor United SportsCar Championship will take place at Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan. Effectively known as the Detroit Grand Prix, this event has taken over the city this week for "Motor City Madness".
This will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 at 1:30pm EST The race itself will be for Prototype and GTD classes. For some reason the GTLM class is not included (which includes BMW team RLL) Prototype Entries: Extreme Speed, Action Express, Wayne Taylor Racing, Marsh Racing, OAK, Michael Shank Racing, SpeedSource, Spirit of Daytona and Chip Ganassi Racing GTD ( GT Daytona) Entries: Muehlner Motorsports, Alex Job Racing, Dempsey Racing, MOMO/NGT, Riley Motorsports, Flying Lizard, Magnus, Fall-Line, Paul Miller, Snow Racing, Scuderia Corsa, Park Place, GB Motorsports, AIM and - my two favorites: Turner Motorsports and TRG-AMR. GTD cars: Porsche 911 GT (11 Entries), Audi R8 LMW (4 Entries), Ferrari 458 Italia (3 Entries), SRT Viper GT3-R (1 Entry), Aston Martin V12 Vantage (1 Entry), BMW Z4 (1 entry which is, of course the Turner machine) Turner Motorsports Here's the boys of Aston Martin Racing rolling in to Detroit: Here's an Tudor invasion through downtown Detroit: |

"Two of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship GT Daytona (GTD) teams running Porsche 911 GT Americas at Belle Isle this weekend will be headed to the 24 Hours of Le Mans June 14-15. As previously announced, Patrick Dempsey (Malibu, California), Joe Foster (Atlanta, Georgia) and Patrick Long (Playa del Rey, California) will reunite for the 82nd edition of the French classic, returning to the GTE-AM class with Dempsey Racing-Proton for the second-consecutive year. This June will see the only all-American driver trio in a Porsche 911 RSR built, by regulation, to 2013 specifications. The Dempsey Racing group finished fourth in class a year ago, narrowly missing a podium"

GTLM cars are probably prepping for Le Mans -- which might be the case for some of the missing LMP2 cars too.

Guys, say a prayer for the Turners of Turner Motorsports. They just lost Linda Turner to cancer. So sad.

Was there today. United is a really great show. Quite a few laps under caution, but to be expected at this track. I could listen to the Prototypes come and go down the straights until the ears fail.
Nice win by the Ferrari. Lose some overall perspective watching in person, but the GTD cars looked to be bunched up at the front for most of the race. Lit numbers on the side of the cars indicating position is a nice addition for spectating.
