Well....it's 8am...I'm in class....I don't want to be there and well there were these guys....every other freaking day....some sort of curry dish....eating in class....

Am I the only one who considers that to be rude?
Yeah a pop tart...sure...but a full blown meal? Let alone one that well at 8am after a night of drinking......

Oh and then there was the stinky tofu…..

All things I love to eat…..but not at 8am you know….
Do you?

Much of what shah says needs to be taken with a grain (or pound) of salt, especially anything to do with understanding women. However, having read this, I have to respond: say he is suprisingly right on the typical engineer stuff. Been working with a bunch of them the last couple years. Gotta say, most (not all) of them are "special". I've worked with a lot of highly educated, designated professionals in a wide variety of fields over the last few decades, and while they all have their quirks, most engineers take the prize for being "special".

Even the senior project leads seem to think that the best way to be taken seriously when attending a senior executive meeting is to show up dressed like you've been camping for the last 10 days (with all the associated smells & stains).
These people are not paid poorly, you'd think they could afford to buy a comb or shampoo or even 1 half-decent "business casual" outfit. It's particularly fascinating to me that some in their mid-40's are in exactly the same place as recent grads are, in terms of their ignorance of how the real world works, and the fact that, for better or worse, how you are perceived by others in a professional setting can really matter.

If you are an engineer who doesnt fit this pattern, then you must feel like a black guy on an NHL team.

I was told that this joke explained engineers, and it took me a while to fully appreciate how scary accurate it is when it comes to their thought process:

Two engineering students were walking across campus when one said, "Where did you get such a great bike?"
The second engineer replied, "Well, I was walking along yesterday minding my own business when a beautiful woman rode up on this bike. She threw the bike to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, "Take what you want."
The second engineer nodded approvingly, "Good choice; the clothes probably wouldn't have fit."

i work in the oil/gas business in Houston.

massive massive Engineering, Procurement and Construction contractors.

i've been working with engineers, drafters and designers for a LONG time.

out of 10 engineers, 2 or 3 seem to be normal human beings with lives and some sense of how the world works....

the other 70-80% are just like shah - 40 year old virgins completely detached from reality that dress like they're stuck on MTV in the 90's....

nothing is wrong with the 90's - but that's the thing.

it's the past.

don't act and dress like you did 15-20 years ago - makes you look stupid and it makes your wife divorce you.

Glad you liked it.
Are they that skinny? I don't notice.. but when I came back from a few yrs in the US for college it did seem like I was wearing ridiculously wide pants. Blame the Korean guys that dress like that -none of the FOB Chinese kids dressed like that(they were mega dorks) -they were the only cool asians.
If you are a billionaire, you get movie starlets, a regular better-off guy you can get decent looking local girl, on the bottom end of the scale, all they have to do is go across the border and get a Chinese girl (not to be confused with the HK girl who is similarily materialistic and cost more)

There are 'nightclubs' that are overpriced (100US for 2-3hrs just for the girl to sit and drink with you) I don't know, you can get enough eye candy on the street. I know I am not making the best use of this resource when I hear you complaining of lack of single women in NJ..
