I wish they could work on the weight of that car. It's amazing how heavy it is.
Actually, come to think of it, my comment applies to the SS, so the ZL-1 must be heavier, right? What's its weight at now? |

Still, pretty amazing time for such a heavy car.

I'll wait for an independent tester, like Sport Auto, to publish a time.

Impressive indeed... but I still don't trust a manufacturer's word/video. How do we know it hasn't been altered in any way (i.e. lightened, r-comps) from the showroom models? I'm not being a GM hater (I'm restoring a '69 Z28 with a friend), I'm being a realist.

If all the manufacturers want to compete based on Nurburgring times they should all get together as a sanctioning body and set ground rules (no R comps, production tires, no tweaks to hardware, boost levels, etc).
It'll never happen but wishful thinking. I think ultimately series like the Continental Challenge do the real talking in terms of the abilities of these platforms --- not that those cars accurately resemble the stock cars. |

Still pretty amazing. GM has really tuned the suspensions with the magnetic fluid. I think they're going to come out with a Z28 version to compete with the Boss 302. It'll have the LS-7 engine in it (so about 500hp - because we all know the Corvette has to have the most HP), and lightend up quite a bit. A lot of new cars weigh too much IMHO. The new M5 is 4,300lbs! I love light weight cars. I've taken about 180lbs off my own car. With a 3/4 tank of gas, my car weighs 3,270lbs. Now all I need is about 75 - 100hp more and it'll be ideal.
