Pretty cool overview of BMW’s EV production - no commentary, but an interesting view of the production lines at Dingolfing (~12min in for i5) and the battery cell -> module -> HV battery and electric motor assemblies at Parsdorf, Leipzig and back at Dingolfing.

They used to do that for certain models at Spartanburg. The logistics are tough to reliably pull that off though. And the, ahem, anal nature of BMW owners would no doubt have people going in to service centers and asking why some bolt wasn't torqued the way it should be or some other obscure details.

BMW is neglecting a way to make millions of euros in extra profit.

100 euros = picture of your new BMW's chassis being assembled

200 euros = video of your BMW being built

200 euros = picture of your new BMW being driven into the car carrier ship

50 euros = bon voyage bouquet or confetti as your car carrier departs

100 euros = picture of your new BMW's tires touching U.S. soil at port of entry
