I traded my 520xd for i5 M60 xDrive

Hi,

I bought a 520xd year ago, just because the price was affordable. i5 was expensive and the installments were high. I got used to i4 m50 back then but my wife took the car over. And I wanted something bigger.

But from very beginning I felt this car is not for me - slow, loud, high consumption in city. I didn't use "1200km" tank. The HK sound was average, I didn't feel the power.
I must admit diesel engines are really outdated, maybe for someone driving weekly 1000km it's good option but normally either EV or HYB is winning.

A moment came I had a chance to sold the lease and get stock M60.
The new (in comparison to 520xd) has:
- B&W Audio,
- Driving Assistance Profesional,
- 360. Camera with remote parking,
- 4 zone climate control,
- crystal controls
- adaptive suspension with rear steering
- Ambient lighting

What makes me most happy is the power of this beast, audio and crystal controls. The interior looks much better despite small details added.

Manouvering of the car is piece of cake. It's a day and night comparing to diesel.
So far went from dealer to my home 320km and consumption was 21,5kW/h. Was driving between 110-130km/h, average around 95km/h. Temp outside 2-7 C. I think result is good.
Another drive 20% city and rest motorway around 90-120km/ - consumption around 20kW/h. It's great.

Now what I don't like about the car:
- the previous had comfort seats and new has sport - not much difference. Both are not very good. I think it's matter of adjustment and getting used to it.
- climate settings are not stored somehow! When I finish the drive, the rear climate control is set to 22 Celcius degree (?)

Nice upgrade!
The 2.0d engines are great for what they are but in a car the size of a 5er really need a 6pot diesel. BMW have made same great diesel engines but things move on and for now a grunty electric car replaces the 535ds of old

They do have a 540d in some countries with the B57 6 Cyl Diesel. Not sure which ones, but I think the EU, UK and Australia have them.

Yes Carbon Black :-)
The feeling of 4 steering is absolutely something what makes a feel of this car gokart while being limousine over 5m long. The previous 520xd felt heavy and being too big for city driving. This one is manouvering like i4 or even better.

I haven’t recorded the path for parking - not sure if I need it. But will try.
I am discovering the features of this beast!
