i5 eDrive40 Efficiency Numbers for a Short Day-trip

My wife and I drove from Santa Clarita, CA to Costa Mesa, CA today and then back home again later. Temps were in the 60s and 70s Fahrenheit today. Got some pretty good efficiency numbers.

The pics below are for the trip out and then back again. It took 20% of the battery to get there, and 28% to get back. We took different routes each way, but I have to assume that the difference is largely due to the overall downhill trip away from home, and uphill trip back. My house is about 1540 feet ASL and our destination is about 48 feet ASL.

Interesting. For comparison purposes, your efficiency is roughly 2.1 mi/kWh. Tough to get high efficiency I suppose when it's only 10 C / 50 F, with winter tires and a headwind and bike carrier!

I don't know about my winds today, but I had no bike carrier, had the original summer tires on the car, and it was much warmer here.

Thanks for posting!

My 40th birthday trip. My wife took me to The Inn at Little Washington. Its the only 3 Michelin star restaurant in the DC area. Drive up was similar to the way back home. Also Highway Assist ate up a little over half the miles.

4.1 mi/kWh is impressive! Good job, and happy birthday!
