A ferry crashes into a dock in San Diego
Someone might have seen this, but I think this deserves its own thread just for the old lady not giving a fuck.

Saw this on the news. They said the captain said it was stuck in gear.

Rod bearings went and everything else seized up. The manufacturer knew about the issue but refused to acknowledge it. At least the horn worked.

I was expecting Peter Griffin and The Chicken to come out from hull/bow and complete the fight.

That's nothing. In NY we have weekly ferry crashes from drunk captains, sleeping captains, and even ferry's without captains sometimes..... and every so on on you get a Boeing 747 landing on the Hudson.

I'm really surprised the dock held up so well and glad nobody was hurt. That horn sure saved a bunch of folks. I'm sure the dock still needs major repairs, but it definitely stopped that boat.
I'm not sure how the dock would have held up if the boat had just a bit more inertia behind it. I guess docks are reinforced for situations like this though. I don't know the first thing about boating so someone enlighten me please. |
