To me this is the easiest way to buy a new BMW. I remember asking the dealer back in 2011 when I first did it, was there an extra charge and she said no. Pointed out that in Europe ordering is more common as dealers don't have big car lots with unsold cars sitting around.
There's no "extra charge" but from my experience you get a better deal from purchasing off the lot as opposed to ordering. Maybe 50-100 a month difference in a lease. This isn't always the case though, still probably worth it to order.
