It's another way for these carriers to get your money, and feel free to donate to them or St. Jude to make it worthwhile.

With AT&T it depends on your plan if you have personal hotspot capability or not. And the data might be limited whereas ESIM is unlimited. Also, I’m not sure if you can broadcast a personal hotspot if you’re connected to the car via wireless Apple Car Play. Now that BMW has rolled out a separate video streaming app through TiVo that doesn’t require ESIM I agree that it has a bit less value.
