according to an old thread, the BMW i4 only had a max range of about 90 miles when doing 130mph. surely the i5 can travel much farther than that, right?

Cruising at 130mph would avrage somewhere in the 30-40kwh/100km/60miles depending on how much you accelerate and decelerate in traffic. 35kwh/100km/60miles is a pretty good avrage to get an idea of how to calculate it. You would be doing about 200km or 120miles on 70% battery spent considering the battery being 80kwh give or take.

Problem with doing a long trip like this with several charging stops is that the car will throttle charging after 5-6 stops. But my conclusion is that BMW is probably doing us a favor by not letting us destroy the batterys long therm health.

ICE cars are better for long trips at autobahn speeds. But you can travel 1000km /600milesn 5hours+4 20min charging stops. Thats 1hour20min more than in an ICE car.
