I know exactly what you mean. Buying a manual transmission car was important to me 2.5 years ago and I had a connection to get into a new M3 (my 4th over 20+ years) when the market was crazy. I still like my car but am actually thinking about selling it. I'd probably get a M440i Gran Coupe (with automatic) which is, in the grand scheme of things, no slouch. Not ready to drive in the fast lane with my left turn signal on for miles and miles at 10 under yet, but more relaxed.
Add to that I've been diagnosed with macular degeneration in my right eye and I'm now far from the sharpest knife in the drawer driving-wise.
But it's OK -- life is good.
