In addition to PPF, I'm using some leftover Owens Corning Rigid Foam Board Insulation panels. Just on general principle, I do my best to ensure the door doesn't touch it.

The main thing I'm trying to protect the door from isn't the wall board, it's the hose bib the door would otherwise hit.
