Usually it is best to wait to buy an extended warranty until you are close to the factory warranty expiring. It may cost more, but many things can happen in between. Also you will be able to gauge what types of issues you had in the first 4 years or 50k miles to determine whether it is actually needed. I just traded in my Tesla Model S with 82,000 miles and did not buy the extended warranty. Maybe I was lucky but I only had a few hundred dollars in repairs. The electric cars “should have less maintenance. Just my .02.
