If by touch, it isn't a surprise. Aluminum absorbs heat better then plastic.  You can also probably take into account the thinness of Apple's laptops.

The aluminum does make for a great heat sink. But my Latitude Z is half the width of the MacBook and runs very cool. The solid state hard drive helps, I'm sure.
I set up two 27" iMacs this week. Very impressive. Especially the mouse and keyboard setup. You can easily pick up and carry the whole thing like a suitcase and set it all up in less than a minute. Apple is light years ahead of the rest of the world in that respect. But after two hours in front of that 27" screen, I was bug-eyed. You really need some distance between yourself and the screen with those.
