I had all 4 removed when I was 18. They gave me enough anestesia to knock out someone twice my size. I was out of commission for 3 or 4 days.
I felt minor numbing for at least a week. I bled for 2+ weeks. Not sure how long the sockets took to completely heal, but it was many many many months.
Not sure what to tell you about nerve damage, but get a second opinion.
