What shocked me was the complete lack of communication on the stop sales.

I really feel for the Dealers who are floating aimlessly without clear direction from Corporate.

There was no way my dealer, or any dealer, was going to be able to have any influence with Corporate. I believe that Corporate simply lacks the skills and training to manage a communication program for an issue of this magnitude.

This is not a dealer problem, because Dealers cannot make the fast & sweeping changes needed to manage something like this.

There are three groups of clients affected

1.Current owners,
2.Current Leasing clients
3.New buyers/leasors with or without a car

Each group has different and solvable needs.

So much good will could have been generated with customers if this whole situation had been handled better.

BMW had an opportunity to really shine here, but the sheer number of cars affected and then a second recall paralized their thinking.

This whole problem would make a great business school project/exam question.
