The Merino has a more "natural" texture, since it is taken from the high quality hide of a Merino sheep, and is not coated or processed with any artificial dyes. It's as close to a "real" leather as you are going to get. Nappa has always had a nice feel, but it has artificial dyes, as do all of the other leathers that BMW offers, except for Rolls Royce or Lavalina in Alpina cars.
