Well its probably for aero reasons, to reduce the turbulence and drag caused by the type of rims that you would see on cars otherwise. And on ICE vehicles its not as sensitive as on EV when it comes to range.

If you remembered back in 2014-2015 when Volvo came with their E-drive tech they came with similar type of rims to reduce drag and increase fuel efficiency.
