M3, Z06, S5, Lotus Exige, Cayman S, or GT500?

Okay so i might be getting a new car in 2 months. But i am not sure which car between these six to choose from. Keep in mind that this will be my everyday car, and that it will be a manual, which is why i didn't put in the RS5 or GTR.

So please help me out!! :D
and if you could say why you think one is better :)

Oh, and if you have a better idea for a car that i didn't mention, don't hesitate to say. Under 80,000.

Thanks!

Your list doesnt make much sense....from the boat bloated S5 to the no frills exige....and in canada some cars in that list have a $ difference of 30K-40K.

Im going to vote for the GT500 just because its behind the z06 at this point. And on that list ive been in everyone of those cars maybe not a 2011 m3 but a 2009 and i can tell you HANDS DOWN That the z06 and gt500 are WAY more exciting then the others imo!

SantaPimp27 05-27-2010 11:24 PM

M3 best all around daily.
S5 is the most comfortable.
Z06 is the fastest and a flat out beast.
Lotus is the most fun, but not a daily.
Cayman is a very fun car, but small.
GT500 is fast and probably the second best daily.

It really depends on what you want. There very different cars. For a daily driver, i would choose the M3. Its got good speed and pretty comfortable. S5 looks the best, but its too slow.

Why not a used 997 turbo?

isn't a dd suppose to mean that you can carry stuff around (aka decent or good cargo *******, comfortable and enjoy the car (but obviously not like a weekend sports car).

From ur list, the M3 coupe, S5 and GT500 are the ones to get.

+100%

Though if I had to be honest with the OP, you list of cars is from one extreme to the other that I get the impression you either know very little about cars in general or you don't have any clue as to what you like from a car. Sorry about being so blunt.

I dont recommend the Exige unless you are a masochist.

nightfx 05-28-2010 06:32 AM

As much as I love the M3, I voted for the Z06 because it's just a monster for the price.

Sephiroth 05-28-2010 06:38 AM

Get the vette. But im biased.

graider 05-28-2010 08:04 AM

i would narrow it down to m3, gt500, z06. then go test drive all threes and make the final decision.

Muffnbluff 05-28-2010 08:10 AM

I wouldn't even consider the 2010 GT500 considering the 2011 GT500 is lighter and more powerful.

That's not blunt, it's simply ignorant.

I'm considering about the exact same list, with the exceptions of the Lotus and Cayman and that's only because I've tried them and ruled them out. Why should a person shop for cars within some set catagory? The fact that I can get by with two seats doesn't mean I shouldn't even consider something that has four?
Buying a car in this price range is all about weighing benefits, not about fitting some specific form factor.

Op,
I'm in the same boat, and I'm leaning toward the Z06. The new GT500 is pretty damn impressive, but I've always been on the GM side of that war and I'm not sure that after years of considering Mustangs the enemy I can get in bed with one, no matter how good she is. :bellyroll

I'm with the others on the Lotus. I test drove one before buying the 135i and I could live with it as a daily driver. The Cayman doesn't offer a lot of "bang for the buck" for what I'm going to use it for, and is outrageously expensive to modify. That applys to the M3 as well, but I might be able to leave it alone.

The Z06 is just a monster. I almost bought an '06 a few months ago, and things at work weren't looking great so I backed off. You're not getting a great interior, but my God the damn thing is fast. It's also cheaper to maintain than most of the others and there are dealerships everywhere. If you don't like the one you're dealing with, you have options.

At this point I'm sort of waiting to see the numbers on the M1 before I do anything, but I'm not sure it's going to sway me from the Vette. I'm also planning on taking a look at a couple of used 911 Turbos.

OP....go out and take each vehicle for a nice drive and spend some time with each vehicle. Dont worry about the members who are taking shots at you for your choice selection....buy a car that you like!
good luck!
:)

Footie...why do you have to be a douche? Do you suffer from little man disorder? taking shots at other members make you feel like more of a man?
go read another car manual!
What a douche!

Memphis1 05-28-2010 09:49 AM

if by daily driver you mean "commuter" car, all of them are the wrong choice... if socal's traffic is anything like new england a 'manual' sport car is the wrong car.

if by daily driver you mean not commuting but simply running out to do stuff randomly (read, pick up hoes) through out the day because you don't work or work from home, than yeah get the M3.

I'm guessing the OP's parents are purchasing the car for him.
